The closest airport to Davidson is Charlotte-Douglas International (CLT), a hub for USAirways, with gates for most of the major US airlines. Three interstates and lots of local routes are easily accessible. We're working on hotel/motel discounts and campground information, so check back soon for more details. Take advantage of your USA Cycling membership to receive discounts with United Airlines and Hertz Car Rental.
Book your room by October 6 to get the special Oktoberfest rate —$58.95 per night—at the Days Inn Cornelius, just a few milies from the race venue. Bike friendly, convenient and an awesome deal. But you must call the hotel directly at 704-892-9120, online reservations do not qualify for the discount.
Follow Interstate 77 North to exit 30/Davidson. Turn right at
exit, follow to end of road and turn right at Main St. Turn left
at the next stoplight-Davidson/Concord Road. Follow Davidson/Concord
Road to Grey Road and turn left. Follow Grey Road until it runs
into Shearer Road and keep straight on Shearer. The park is about

We heartily recommend you register in advance--save some money and some time! However, if you do plan to wait until the last minute, on-site registration will be available from 10 to 6 pm Friday, October 24, and from 7 to 9 am on Saturday and Sunday. You can pick up packets at the same time, and directions for chip pick-up will be available at the venue.
Parking is free but may be limited, and we are looking into arrangements now for overflow parking. Volunteer staff will be on hand to direct you to pit areas and overflow parking. Endurance race pit areas will be pre-assigned.

The Oktoberfest 8-Hour Endurance Mountain Bike Race is the final race on the USA Cycling Ultra-Endurance Calendar. So you can bet the competition will be fierce! Our sponsors have really stepped up to provide some great prizes for all the events:
The Lady that climbs to the top of 5 to 7 climbs (still finalizing the checkpoints!) during Oktoberfest 8-Hour Endurance Race on Saturday will be recognized as the Queen of the Mountain, and will receive the Specialized/Komen pink Propero Helmet and 2008 Women’s Factory Team Jersey--also in pink—to support National Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October. The man who will be “crowned” King of the Mountain will be awarded a Red Propero Helmet and a red Specialized Factory Team Jersey.
NiteRider is the Official Lighting Sponsor of NMBO, sponsoring the Friday Niterider Short Track Race. When the sun goes down the lights come on, and NiteRider will award the Fastest Lap at Nite Female and Male in the 8-Hour Endurance race.
First racer to get around the course in the short track race, first racer out of the prolog and onto the endurance course, fastest time trial racer, and first racer around the Beast course will be awarded ODI Grips.
The first racer in the endurace race to get spotted in their Tifosis gets their choice of a brand new pair, so make sure Shannon spots you first!
